In today’s very crowded labour market, successful recruitment campaigns must integrate
elements of PR, effective advertising, slick referral and processing systems. These
components, coupled
with experienced skills/competence assessment staff, can then be targeted at engaging potential
multi-stream candidate pools.
This unique approach towards providing integrated solutions has been professionally
recognised and acclaimed by the Scottish IPA who awarded the company the 2005 award
for best integrated campaign delivery.
At ITP, we have experience in providing bespoke recruitment services specifically
tailored to individual needs, grounded in effective technology engagement systems,
involving very highly experienced and qualified skills/competence assessment personnel.
All our services are quality assured through the application of the SQMS (Scottish
Quality Management System) quality assurance system.
Typically, our services concentrate on Level 1 Staff
(administrative, customer service and support staff) Provision of
Managed Assessment Centre.
Services include:
- PR, Advertising collation and placement (local press and local radio) all copy
to be signed off by client
- Provision of multi channel referral system ( text / web / 0800 )
- Identification of potential recruit streams
- First stage presentation/service over view
- First stage assessment
- Second stage interview
- Second stage IT skills test
- Reference checking
- Third stage referrals to client (final interview)
- Processing all rejected candidate correspondence
The above services are typically delivered using materials or assessment instruments designed
by ITP or provided by clients. For audit purposes, all hard and electronic copies held
by ITP are available for inspection.
ITP can structure and administer Managed Assessment Centres. Our model includes
structuring an appropriate assessment centre around assessing initial applications
and CV’s. Screened candidates are then invited to a one day event structured around
an initial interview or management competence assessment which is then followed by
involvement in a business case scenario (i.e. on an individual basis) completed
through group involvement in an assessed group activity.
The activity is run over a single day, with lunch
supplied, and is managed and assessed by Rob Murray and Sandy Miller, both highly
experience management assessors. Thereafter, candidate results will be collated
and individual profiles created and forwarded to the client for consideration.
To aid the consideration process, Rob Murray will advise client decision makers.
The assessment centre activities will therefore run over two days (inclusive of
candidate rating/profiling and interaction with client decision makers.)

In today’s ever-increasing, competitive market, it is essential that staff recruited
to senior management positions are capable of transferring their knowledge and understanding
(usually evidenced by academic qualifications) into workplace competence. With extensive
experience in the assessment of strategic and senior operations managers to MBA
equivalence, ITP can structure and manage, via a similar model to the above, Managed
Assessment Centres for senior staff with all assessments designed around National
Standards of Management Competence.
ITP have considerable experience in providing managed outplacement solutions
for redundancy situations. We believe that candidates under threat of redundancy
need a coordinated, integrated developmental programme which addresses the situation
for all involved, helping candidates develop a methodological job search strategy,
assist candidates to determine training needs, manage/deliver training provision,
provide IT skills updating, but also, and most importantly, help provide, through
these interventions, a motivational input ie, that something structured is being
seen to be delivered.
ITP have previously managed a major pre-redundancy situation at both Nigg
and Ardersier Yards (Haliburton). In these situations, ITP conducted
structured interviews to obtain skills
information. This information was collated into a skills database and used to
delivering a wide series of job-search/job-planning interviews. This exercise
involved over 4,000 participants.
ITP have also managed pre-redundancy situations for the Bank of Scotland
in Dingwall and Lighthouse of Scotland (both smaller scale yet involving approximately
25 staff in each situation). In both cases, the majority of staff involved found new
employment quickly.
Our programme consists of the following proven modules:
- Initial one-to-one structured interviews
- Job search strategies
- After care
- Skills update – core and specialist e.g. IT, Payroll etc.(optional)
These interviews will concentrate on uncovering past skills, whilst identifying
existing skills sets and skills gaps and also ascertaining whether candidates have
formed any realistic approaches to both re-training and job-search strategies. This
information will provide the baseline material that participants will develop
in the supporting workshop activities.
All participants will generate an individual action plan, clearly sign posting development
activities. Delivery will be coordinated on site, ie using a site office/room
to facilitate interviews.
This programme of linked modules is intended to assist candidate’s progress
with their job search activities.
Sessions:
- The Job market - assessing opportunities (includes agency information) and formulating
an effective job search strategy. Making initial contact with potential employers and the
employment application process.
- CV’s, Current Training certificates, and Covering letters - a professional up to
date CV and all supporting application letter templates will be prepared for all
candidates
- Pre-Interview preparation - The Interview process Alternative Career options - Career
changing
- Training involvement - LEC funded Training For Work opportunities and how
to progress them (linked to one-to-one process and job search workshops)
- We would also manage and coordinate inputs from Careers Scotland, Jobcentre Plus
and all Inverness based recruitment agencies.
ITP will provide a mentoring service to candidates, providing after-care up to
the point when they officially leave the company. The after-care service would be
delivered over 2 days per week and would involve support on all aspects of job searching
(job suitability, fine tuning CV’s, assistance in progressing agreed job search
strategy etc).
Some candidates may require updating on core skills (e.g. CV’s relative to targeted
job opportunities). We can deliver, at our office in Inverness, one day sessions on the major
Microsoft packages, ie Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Internet.
